CPO vs Used: What's the Difference?
If you're not familiar with the terminology, you may be wondering what's different between your standard used car and a certified pre-owned car.
Used models can be any age and have any number of miles on them. You can also buy them from any seller, whether it's an independent seller or a reputable dealership.
CPO cars have to meet very specific manufacturer criteria to earn their certification. They have to be lower in years and miles and must pass a rigorous multipoint quality inspection. Once these specifications are met, the car is granted extended warranty coverage.
Since CPO cars offer up warranty protections and manufacturer certification, you can only get them from dealerships-not from independent sellers.
