Used Ford F-150: Power & Performance

The used F-150 comes equipped with a 3.3L Ti-VCT PFDI V6 engine. Its twin independent variable cam timing opens/closes the valves in a precise duration to fit current operating conditions so power outputs are always optimized across the performance band. This impressive engine is paired with an electronic 10-speed automatic transmission, which delivers a notable overall performance.

Together, this configuration makes an excellent pairing. The power outputs you can expect to see from this engine are close to 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Plus, when properly equipped, the F-150 ultimately has the maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, although different trims and cab sizes factor into that estimation.

The F-150 is committed to saving fuel while out on the road due to the inclusion of Auto Start-Stop Technology. It works by shutting down the engine when you come to a complete stop. Instead of idling and wasting precious fuel, you'll conserve what you have. When it's time to move again, simply release the brake pad and the engine will automatically restart. Specifically for trucks, this technology deactivates when not called for in circumstances when you're towing a trailer or in 4-wheel drive.

Used Ford F-150: Handling

The used F-150 comes in either 4x2 or 4x4 drive with features addressing both. Take, for example, the Electronic-Shift-On-the-Fly (ESOF) with Neutral Towing Capability. This is available only on 4x4 models; however, its function makes it have the best of both worlds. With the twist of a dial, ESOF allows you to choose from two different 4-wheel-drive modes (4x4 low or high) as well as 2-wheel drive. However, this ability to shift on the fly does not preclude there being dedicated features for either 4x4 or 4x2.

For the 4x2 drive, there six available selectable drive modes. These modes include Normal, ECO, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, and Trail, providing numerous options in how to tackle road conditions as well as your driving preferences.

The 4x4 drive ups the ante by offering two more modes designed with the kind of power only a 4x4 drive can provide. These include the previously mentioned Normal, ECO, Sport, Tow/Haul, and Slippery. The new additions are Deep Snow/Sand, and Mud/Rut since you may be tackling more challenging terrain with a 4x4 drivetrain.
